I

nfant Babies are cute and easy to handle but when they start crawling and walking oh men it’s time to baby proof for sure.

Once your baby begin to move around exploring becomes their mission, it now becomes very important to make sure they don’t end up hurting themselves in the process.

As the saying goes, "Curiosity killed the cat, But satisfaction brought it back." So while your baby’s curiosity kicks in it’s your job as the parent to secure the baby from any impending danger in the house and stop him from turning your house to a mess!

As I write this post, I know every home have some unique features that can be a potential danger, so I will advise as a parent you get on your fours and crawl around to locate basically what we will be pointing out here.

Furthermore, Every few months, when your child reaches a new milestone, like walking, evaluate your home for additional babyproofing needs. As kids grow taller, the danger zones will change and likely increase.

Whether you are a well-seasoned parent or new to the game, these 10 DIY solutions below are sure to make your life easier and your child safer.

b) Safely store cleaning supplies and other harsh chemicals out of reach – Ideally all toxic/dangerous supplies should be stored and locked in the top cabinets.

2. Toddler bed guard:
Use a bumper or pool noodle under a fitted sheet to help keep the little ones from falling out of their beds at night. They are low and soft enough that they can easily get into the bed themselves and big enough to keep them from falling out of it at night.

3. Socket Protector:
Babies have tiny poking fingers that fit into electric sockets easily, apply band-aids on the sockets to stop them from getting electrocuted. And whenever you want to use the sockets remove the band-aid and put back afterwards.

4. Table edges and corners:

Crawling babies often end up bumping their heads on table edges. Tables often have right angled corners, just at the right height to hit a baby’s head – especially coffee tables and side tables. Cover sharp edges corners with bumpers or safety padding. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but neither do injuries and bumps on the head. It is only temporary: this phase passes fast.

5. Band together on horizontal cabinets:

Attach hair ties or rubber bands to keep paired cabinet doors closed. Just loop the tie around the handles and your baby will only be able to open the doors a little bit, not wide enough to slip a hand through.

6. Get an adjoining handles on vertical drawers or handleless drawer:

Slide a yardstick or tension rod (or another long, thin object) through the handles of horizontally stacked drawers, rather than spending time and money on individual locks. Handleless drawers can be challenging to open, especially for people with weak grips or arthritis. Since there is no handle to grip, you have to use the recessed area or a push-to-open mechanism, which can be difficult for some people and babies to operate.

COLORS

I love this song "the color of love" by Boyz II Men, hmmm it reminds me that any color of the rainbow can represent love for different individuals .Colors for me are expression of ones true inner feelings. In Africa we perceive color to represent beauty and personality, most times colors are associated to meanings. Lets do this little exercise to know what color you love most ,now take a deep breath close your eyes , picture yourself alone  in a small dark room what do you feel about being in a dark room, repeat this with primary color Red, Blue and  yellow then move to secondary colors(or whichever color you think you love) .Stay on each color for about 3-5minutes .
